Beginner Mountain Bike Camp
Who: For riders ages 11-15 with an interest in Mountain biking and has done less than 10 trail rides. Mountain bike trails are dirt paths with obstacles such as rocks, roots, and hills.
Campers will learn the basics of riding their mountain bike through skills development sessions, drills and then on the trails. In addition, they will learn about bike maintenance, bike set-up and a variety of riding skills to help them enjoy their riding even more. The camps are full of cycling activities that keep things fun and challenging. Campers will also get to participate in traditional camp activities too like crafts, games and nature education.
Camp kicks off with pre-ride bike check and set-up, and rider evaluation so the instructors can ensure each rider is safe and put in the proper riding group according to the comfort and skill level. This gives campers a chance to learn more about their bike and how it functions. Once campers are properly fitted on their mountain bikes, we teach fundamentals of bike control, body position, riding speed and overall cycling techniques. All of these skills are essential to give campers a chance to get accustomed to the terrain.
Beginning mountain bikers spend time doing technique lessons, drills and will ride the white and green level trails at Percy Warner Park. Each day will include a classroom/parking lot lesson, skill practice and competency demonstration BEFORE the group will hit the trails.
